# Profit Guard

> Profit Guard is a Shopify app by Defyn Digital that calculates real net profit on every order in real time, accounting for COGS, payment processing fees, shipping costs, and discounts. It listens for `orders/create` webhooks, computes profit, persists every order's breakdown, and tags orders that fall below a merchant-configured threshold. Free tier plus a Pro plan at $9/month with a 7-day trial.

## Profit formula (single source of truth)

All amounts in minor units (cents) for the order currency. Taxes excluded (remittable).

Important behaviour: COGS is computed using pre-discount unit price times the ratio. The merchant still paid wholesale even when the item sold at 90% off.

## Pricing

- **Free plan**: real-time profit per order, automatic flagging, profit dashboard, configurable cost settings, unlimited orders. COGS estimated via a configurable ratio of selling price.
- **Pro plan**: $9 USD per month, 7 day free trial. Adds real COGS lookup from Shopify InventoryItem.unitCost, per-variant unit cost accuracy, priority support.
